A Journey Through Derry’s Irish Language Revival
Discover the rich history of the Irish language in Derry with Céim ar chéim, an immersive tour celebrating the cultural and linguistic heritage of our city. Explore key landmarks, uncover fascinating stories, and connect with the passionate efforts behind the revival of the Irish language.
Over the six months of the Céim ar chéim project, significant strides were made to uncover and celebrate Derry's Irish language heritage. Volunteers conducted extensive research, delving into archives, oral histories, and interviews to document key moments, places, and people central to the language's revival.
This research was transformed into engaging content, including a bilingual booklet and a carefully curated walking tour that highlights historical landmarks tied to the Irish language. The tour was developed in guided and self-guided formats, with digital and audio resources available in Irish, English, or bilingually.
