Road Show

The Droichead Project in Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin appreciates that there is a growing interest in the Irish language across local communities.

We offer multiple ways for people to access the language and increase their familiarity and understanding. We have extensive experience in supporting those communities and individuals who have had limited access or personal connection to the language in the past.

Exhibitions

Stair na Gaeilge – Timeline of significant moments for the Irish Language in Ireland covering 2000 years. 5m x 3m.

Bailte Fearainn Cathair Dhoire – Map of Derry City and Strabane District council area featuring origins of townland names and their meanings. 4m x 3m.

Talks and Workshops

• Local place names (origins and meanings)
• Perceptions of the Irish language and shared heritage
• The outreach work of the Droichead Project and experience of local participants
• Talks can be tailored to suit different age groups and can be delivered in small groups, or to bigger audiences.

Immersive activities

If you would like to introduce groups to a few words of Irish whilst participating in an activity –

• Art (all ages)
• Gardening (all ages)
• Rhymes and Games (pre-school age)

Irish language taster sessions (can be tailored to suit all ages)

We can deliver different these individually or in combination, depending on your needs. All our activities are delivered by experienced and quality facilitators and our exhibitions provide an amazing and colourful visual focal point.

We have limited availability to deliver these for free. They can also be delivered for a reasonable fee that offers value for money to your community and funders.
